Kirill Okorochenkov

Kirill has been advising international clients investing into the Russian economy for more than 15 years.

His key areas of specialization include mergers & acquisitions, corporate governance, competition, property, contracts, and employment legislation.

Kirill was also extensively involved in numerous dispute resolution matters, including shareholders' disputes, tax, intellectual property, insurance and reinsurance, anti-monopoly, consumer, and environmental protection claims.

Before taking his current role at Redstone Chambers, Kirill spent many years as an associate at the Moscow office of Dewey & LeBoeuf, a premier New York - based international law firm and was subsequently the Country Legal Counsel for Russia & CIS at The Boeing Corporation.

Kirill is a graduate of the Moscow State Law Academy and Moscow State Linguistic University.

• Advising a US corporation on general regulatory framework and legal structure for setting up a joint research laboratory with a prominent Russian university

• Performing intensive due diligence of a Russian power and heat company to be acquired by a foreign investor in course of the Russian electricity reform

• Consulting clients on various issues of application of Russian export control rules and possible conflicts with US export control rules

• Advising on procedural aspects of performing ethics investigations in a Russian subsidiary of a multinational company

• Advising a German company on various ways of financing its Russian subsidiary

• Representing a foreign power and heat company in negotiating of terms and conditions of a shareholder's agreement and a capacity supply agreement to be executed in course of its contemplated acquisition of a Russian energy company

• Coordinating all aspects of launching and realization of a mandatory shares tender offer in a giant Russian public company

• Advising one of the world's leading insurance companies on its acquisition of a prominent Russian insurance group

• Advising a Russian portfolio investor on financing of a start-up Russian music TV-channel, restructuring of the channel's debts and possible impact of the negative assets of the channel on the proposed structure of the project financing

• Advising a Western institutional investor in its acquisition of a prime office building in Moscow

• Advising a brewing conglomerate on its acquisition of substantial equity stakes in several Russian breweries, and participation through a joint venture in ownership of dozens breweries throughout the country

• Advising two European tobacco companies on the impact of Russia’s antimonopoly laws on their contemplated integration of merchandising activities in Russia

• Advising a charge card issuer on the Russian antimonopoly aspects of its exclusivity arrangement with a prominent Russian bank

• Representing a US independent software company in a Russian arbitration court and before Russian antimonopoly authorities in a complex trademark and business reputation defense dispute involving the use of a trademark in connection with unlawful sales of a number of computer database products by a Russian company in St. Petersburg

• Counseling to a major London-based reinsurance group in its successful settlement of multi-million fire damage and business interruption claim in Russia
